Holiday Greeting to Our Friends

This has been another positive year for the Friends and the Natural Areas in general, and we are happy to report just a few highlights, many of which were made possible by the personal commitment and financial support of our members:

• The Board has engaged Cindy Sims to complete a photo documentation of both the interiors and exterior of Rancho Diana. We believe this will represent an important and ultimately historic record of this sensitive property.

• The Board has collaborated with the City of San Antonio to propose a major improvement project for the Friedrich Park entry area. Together, we will seek grant funding as well as donate our own respective funds. We hope to announce major progress on this effort within the next year.

• The Board partnered with staff for a successful application for a Brackenridge Foundation grant. This grant was for $5450 and will help to fund field trips to the Natural Areas for children from three Title 1 schools.

• Board member Kathy Ward and her team have initiated a great new series of lectures and field trips. We have had some wonderful speakers and field tours, generating much interest from both members and non-members.

• The FFWP website has been given a facelift and has a whole new look. Please take a look, at www.fofriedrichpark.org, and feel free to make suggestions or consider contributing your own photographs.
