The trails start through forest predominantly of live oak and juniper interspersed with meadows. Many of our trails in this level part of the park are ADA accessible.

Friedrich Wilderness Park lies among the hills along the edge of the Balcones Escarpment.

If you climb the hills of the Main Loop trail, you will find nice views from the ridge tops. Whether it is a sunny day or clear night, the hills are refreshing. The forest on the north side of the central ridge in the park can be a few degrees cooler than San Antonio.

Windmill provides permanent water

Friedrich park actually has water.

Although the San Antonio area just receives 20 inches of rain a year, the windmill on the left provides a permanent water source for wildlife.

After, Friedrich springs fills the creek by the main loop trail and creates this waterfall. Usually this is a dry creek bed.
